This catalogue brings together a comprehensive visual survey of two of the earliest major works by artist Barbara T. Smith. Seen historically, Field Piece, 1968-71 and The Black Glass Paintings both demonstrate the early philosophical tenants of Smith's performative works. The resulting publication is a document of Smith's involvement in the making, and later exhibiting of these two pieces.
